Prime Video has confirmed that its highly anticipated limited series Blade Runner 2099 will premiere on 25 November, with all eight episodes launching simultaneously in more than 240 countries and territories.

The announcement was made during the streamer’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, where more than 6,500 fans were treated to a panel featuring stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer alongside showrunner Silka Luisa and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Set 50 years after the events of Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, the series returns to a rebuilt Los Angeles where humanity is no longer the dominant force.

The story follows Cora (Hunter Schafer), a fugitive who assumes one final identity as a Blade Runner in a desperate attempt to stop running. She is forced to partner with Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a replicant nearing the end of her life, to track down a mysterious fugitive whose secrets threaten the fragile future of the city.

The series also stars Dimitri Abold (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy), with recurring appearances from Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi.

Silka Luisa serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Blade Runner director Ridley Scott. Alcon Entertainment founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson also executive produce, with Jonathan van Tulleken (Shōgun) directing the first two episodes.

Blade Runner 2099 marks the franchise’s first live-action television series and continues the story first introduced in Ridley Scott’s landmark 1982 film and expanded by Villeneuve’s Oscar-winning Blade Runner 2049.
