The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood is heading back to Australia, with the actor announced as the latest headline guest for Supanova Comic Con & Gaming in Adelaide and Brisbane later this year.

Wood, who famously portrayed Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning trilogy, will make his first Supanova appearance since 2019, joining previously announced co-star Sean Astin for a major Lord of the Rings reunion. Wood will appear on Sunday only in Adelaide before attending all three days of the Brisbane event.

The announcement adds further Middle-earth star power to this year’s convention, with Jed Brophy, Stephen Hunter, Bruce Hopkins and Graham McTavish also joining the line-up.

Brophy, who appeared across The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies as well as Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, will attend both Adelaide and Brisbane. Hopkins, remembered for playing Gamling in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Return of the King, will appear exclusively in Brisbane alongside McTavish, who portrayed Dwalin in The Hobbit films and has since starred in Outlander and House of the Dragon.

Away from Middle-earth, the latest guest announcement spans film, television, animation and gaming.

Among the additions are Descendants star Mitchell Hope, Australian actor John Jarratt (Wolf Creek), Lincoln Lewis(Home and Away), Neil Fanning, the original voice of Scooby-Doo in the live-action films, and Nathan Jones (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), who will appear exclusively in Brisbane.

Animation and gaming fans will also find plenty to celebrate.

With the second season of X-Men ’97 currently streaming, Lenore Zann—the longtime voice of Rogue—will attend both events, while David Bateson, the voice of Agent 47 in the Hitman video game franchise for more than 25 years, will make his Supanova debut.

Voice actor Faye Mata, whose credits include League of Legends, Street Fighter 6 and Konosuba!, also joins the line-up alongside The Amazing Digital Circus performers Sean Chiplock and Amanda Hufford.

Comic book fans will be able to meet Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman, who headlines a strong comics contingent that also includes artists Freddie Williams II and Jon Sommariva.

The newly announced guests join an already impressive roster featuring Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Star Wars), Gina Torres(Firefly, Suits) and Anson Mount (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds).

Supanova Comic Con & Gaming returns to the Adelaide Showground from 30 October to 1 November, before travelling to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from 6-8 November.

Organisers say additional celebrity guests will be announced in the lead-up to both events.
