‘Flower & Flour’ Renewed for Season 2 After Breakout Australian Debut

Australian animated series Flower & Flour is returning for a second season after emerging as ABC Children & Family’s biggest commissioned premiere of 2026.

The ABC and Screen Australia have officially green lit another 39 episodes of the children’s series, with the new season set to arrive in 2027.

Created by Dan Mansour, Flower & Flour follows seven-year-old Flower and her best friend Flour — a walking, purring bag of flour that behaves like a cat — as they turn everyday life in their multicultural neighbourhood into imaginative adventures.

The series has averaged a total audience of more than one million viewers per episode across ABC TV and ABC iview, according to OzTAM figures supplied by the broadcaster. The ABC says that makes it the No. 1 premiere commissioned series for its Children & Family division this year.

Season two will continue following Flower and Flour through stories dealing with family, friendship and community, with new characters also set to join the pair’s neighbourhood.

“I’m so thrilled at the response for season 1, with kids and their families across Australia embracing the wonderful world of Flower & Flour,” Mansour said in announcing the renewal.

The series is an Australia-Canada co-production between Sydney-based Cheeky Little Media and Sinking Ship Entertainment, produced for the ABC, TVOkids, Knowledge Kids and Radio-Canada.

Screen Australia lists Cindy Scharka as director of the second season, with Dan Mansour joined in the writers’ room by Wendy Hanna, Amy Stewart, Angus Woodiwiss, Lawrence Leung, Joel Slack-Smith, Clare Atkins, Christin Simms and Celeste Koon.

Production funding for the second season comes from Screen Australia, the Canada Media Fund, the Shaw Rocket Fund and Ontario Creates, among others, with post-production, digital and visual effects supported by Screen NSW. Sinking Ship Entertainment handles international sales, while Cheeky Little Commercial oversees global licensing.

The renewal gives the locally created series considerable momentum as it expands internationally, while continuing the ABC’s investment in Australian children’s programming.

A specific premiere date for season two has not yet been announced, but the new episodes are scheduled to arrive in 2027.
