The Apurva Kempinski Bali Introduces New Wellness Experience With Exclusive Sydney Launch

Luxury resort The Apurva Kempinski Bali has introduced a new holistic wellness programme, Mauna: The Art of Silence, bringing centuries-old Balinese traditions into a contemporary approach to mindfulness, movement and restorative travel.

The programme was recently introduced to Australian media and influencers at an exclusive cultural immersion experience held at 38 Degrees Bathhouse in Bondi, Sydney.

Among those attending were television personality Laura Csortan, Married at First Sight alumna Jules Robinson, Fiona Faulkiner and mindfulness and meditation coach Tom Conin, who were offered an introduction to the practices underpinning the new experience.

Inspired by Nyepi, Bali’s sacred Day of Silence, Mauna encourages guests to disconnect from the distractions of everyday life and reconnect with themselves through reflection, mindful movement and restorative rituals.

Developed as an extension of the resort’s existing wellness philosophy, the programme draws on Balinese cultural traditions while responding to growing interest in more meaningful and immersive travel experiences.

“Most of us are surrounded by noise all day, and we don’t realise how tired it makes us until we stop,” said Ira Maharani, Director of Spa at The Apurva Kempinski Bali.

“Mauna is about giving people permission to pause. When you slow down and listen, you start to feel clearer, calmer and kinder, to yourself and to the people around you.”

The experience is structured around four central pillars: Mindfulness, Movement with Presence, Nourishment as Ritual and Profound Renewal.

Mindfulness incorporates guided meditation, conscious breathing, body awareness and silence-based practices designed to encourage reflection and mental clarity.

Movement with Presence combines yoga, Pilates and grounding exercises with experiences including Aerial Yoga, Waterflow Yoga and Balinese Sacred Movement, which draws inspiration from traditional dance.

Nourishment as Ritual explores the relationship between food, culture and wellbeing. Guests can participate in traditional Javanese jamu preparation, workshops examining mindful eating and visits to a Balinese village to discover local culinary traditions.

The final pillar, Profound Renewal, focuses on sleep and restoration through sound healing, personalised evening rituals and candlelit bathing experiences.

The programme takes place at The Apurva Kempinski Bali’s spa in Nusa Dua, overlooking the Indian Ocean.

The five-star resort is known for its dramatic terraced architecture, inspired in part by Bali’s traditional subak irrigation system, with landscaped gardens, water features and cascading pools connecting the property to its natural surroundings.

For the resort, the new offering reflects a broader ambition to create travel experiences that continue to influence guests beyond their holidays.

“A holiday should send you home feeling different from when you arrived,” said Charles Octoriano, PR and Marketing Manager at The Apurva Kempinski Bali.

“With Mauna, our guests don’t just relax for a few days. They experience practices rooted in Balinese tradition that they can take home and use every day.”

Now available to Australian travellers, Mauna forms part of the resort’s wider approach to culturally informed luxury hospitality, combining traditional wellness practices with contemporary spa experiences.

The programme is available to book through The Apurva Kempinski Bali’s official website.
