Adwoa Aboah to Headline Inaugural NGV x Kérastase Power Talks in Melbourne

The British model, actor and Gurls Talk founder will appear in conversation at NGV International on Oct. 1.
Adwoa Aboah will appear in an exclusive live conversation at the National Gallery of Victoria next month, headlining the inaugural NGV x Kérastase Power Talks in Melbourne.
The British model, actor and mental health advocate will discuss her career, creative practice and advocacy at NGV International on Oct. 1. Admission is free, although bookings are required.
The event marks the first Australian edition of Kérastase’s global Power Talks series and the first time the program has been staged in partnership with a cultural institution. Previous editions have taken place in Paris, Mumbai, Los Angeles and Warsaw, with speakers including Demi Moore, Emily Ratajkowski and Amelia Dimoldenberg.
“I can’t wait to visit Melbourne and the NGV for the first time,” Aboah said. “I truly believe that when we share our own stories and experiences, it builds the foundation for a strong community where we can empower ourselves and each other.”
She added that the conversation would encompass “the successes, challenges and career-defining moments” of her journey, as well as the ways women can build confidence throughout their careers.
Aboah has appeared on the covers of publications including Vogue, W, i-D, Dazed and Elle, and has fronted campaigns for Dior, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Swarovski and Rimowa. Time previously named her a Next Generation Leader.
Her screen career began with Netflix drama Top Boy. She subsequently appeared in Disney+ fantasy series Willow, Lena Dunham’s Netflix comedy Too Much and Alex Burunova’s feature Satisfaction, which premiered at SXSW in 2025. Aboah is also set to appear in Michael B. Jordan’s reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair, scheduled for release in 2027.
In 2015, Aboah founded Gurls Talk, a nonprofit organisation providing mental health support, resources and community programs for girls and young women. She expanded her creative work in 2024 with the launch of handbag label The Veil, created with designer Georgie Wright.
“Adwoa Aboah is a leading voice of her generation, not only through her work in fashion and entertainment, but through her commitment to mental health initiatives,” NGV director Tony Ellwood said. “We’re proud to be partnering with Kérastase to share Adwoa’s voice, creativity and advocacy with Australian audiences.”
Power Talks launched globally in 2023 as a mentorship and education platform addressing the confidence gap experienced by women during career-defining moments. The NGV partnership is intended to create an ongoing forum for leading female voices across art, design and culture.
NGV x Kérastase Power Talks: Adwoa Aboah will take place at NGV International, St Kilda Road, Melbourne, on Thursday, Oct. 1. Free tickets will be released at 6pm on Wednesday, Sept. 16, through the NGV website.
