Wentworth: Halfway Home Unveils First Look as Nine New Cast Members Join Australian Spin-Off
BINGE has unveiled the first look at Wentworth: Halfway Home, the highly anticipated spin-off of the Australian television drama Wentworth, and announced nine additional cast members.
The announcement, made on October 26, coincided with the fifth anniversary of the original series’ final episode, which aired in 2021.
Nadine Garner, Elaine Crombie, Grace Chow, Sara West, Claude Jabbour, Daniel Henshall, Laura Gordon, Thom Green and Chika Ikogwe have joined the ensemble, bringing a new generation of characters into the world of the internationally successful Australian drama.
The newcomers join previously announced cast members Rachel Griffiths, Sophie Lowe, Alex King and Chenile Chandler, alongside returning favourites Katrina Milosevic, Nicole da Silva and Kate Box.
Milosevic reprises her role as Susan “Boomer” Jenkins, with da Silva returning as Franky Doyle and Box as Lou Kelly.
Moving beyond the walls of Wentworth Correctional Centre, the new series follows Boomer after her release from prison as she attempts to rebuild her life at Sal’s Halfway House.
Determined to regain custody of her daughter and build a future outside prison, Boomer soon finds herself facing another dangerous situation when a body is discovered, raising questions about whom she can trust among the former inmates living in the house.
The spin-off introduces a new group of characters navigating the challenges of life after incarceration, with Griffiths portraying Moira, a glamorous former beauty therapist convicted of fraud, and Lowe playing Sam, a former stalker whose seemingly agreeable personality conceals a vengeful streak.
Garner, whose previous credits include The Doctor Blake Mysteries, reflected on joining a franchise she had admired throughout its original run.
“For many years I had friends and colleagues creating and working on Wentworth,” Garner said in a statement released by BINGE.
“It became a solid fixture of screen work in Victoria. I admired the show from afar and the incredible world that they had built as a team.”
She added that joining the new series was an opportunity she had never expected.
“I never dreamed I would be stepping into this next chapter and am so grateful for the opportunity to carry forward the story for their dedicated audience.”
Wentworth, which premiered on Foxtel in 2013, reimagined the landmark Australian television series Prisoner, which aired between 1979 and 1986.
Produced by Fremantle, the drama ran for eight seasons and reached audiences in more than 170 territories worldwide, establishing itself as one of Australia’s most internationally recognised television productions.
Wentworth: Halfway Home is being produced by Fremantle Australia for BINGE, with major production investment from Foxtel and Screen Australia and financing in association with VicScreen.
Production has been taking place in Melbourne, with Gracie Otto serving as set-up director and Nina Buxton and Tenika Smith also directing episodes.
The series is scheduled to premiere on BINGE and Foxtel in late 2026, although an exact release date has not yet been announced.
Ahead of the spin-off’s arrival, the original Wentworth will be available in its entirety on BINGE and on Foxtel’s More Pop-Up Hits Channel (129) from November 11.
