CHANEL Comes Ashore

Sydney’s relationship with the sea made it a fitting destination for Matthieu Blazy’s first Cruise collection for CHANEL. First presented in Biarritz, Cruise 2026/27 arrived at The Cutaway on Gadigal Country, where natural sandstone framed a series of intimate, apartment-inspired rooms.

Supplied by Chanel.

On the runway, sailor stripes, little black dresses and the double C offered familiar reference points, while inventive materials brought a fresh sense of movement. Against Sydney’s coastal backdrop, the collection proposed a wardrobe in which elegance leaves room for ease.

The setting carried its own CHANEL references. Black and beige, mirrors and pale carpeting recalled the intimacy of Gabrielle Chanel’s Rue Cambon apartment, while The Cutaway’s sandstone gave the presentation a distinctly local texture. It was a fitting meeting of Parisian interiors and Sydney’s natural surroundings.

The celebration continued beyond the runway, with Kylie Minogue taking to the stage at the after-party. Performing hits including “Padam Padam” and “Love at First Sight”, the Australian pop icon brought a different kind of movement to CHANEL’s Sydney outing, carrying the evening from fashion into music.
