Teresa Palmer to Headline Regional Australian Screen Industry Forum

Australian actor and producer Teresa Palmer is set to headline Screenworks’ Regional to Global Screen Forum, as the industry turns its attention to creating greater opportunities for filmmakers and screen professionals outside Australia’s major cities.

The two-day event will return to Lennox Head in northern New South Wales on Sept. 9 and 10, bringing together filmmakers, writers, directors and producers with commissioners, executives and other key decision-makers from across the Australian screen industry.

Palmer, whose career has moved between major Hollywood productions and Australian independent filmmaking, will be among the industry figures participating in this year’s program.

The Adelaide-born actor has built an international career spanning films including Hacksaw Ridge, Warm Bodies and The Fall Guy, alongside Australian productions and television projects.

Her appearance comes as Regional to Global continues to position itself as a bridge between screen practitioners based outside the major metropolitan production centres and the broader Australian and international industry.

Hosted annually by Screenworks, the forum includes panel discussions, case studies, roundtables, networking events and one-on-one meetings designed to give regional practitioners direct access to established industry figures.

The 2026 edition will also feature Netflix as the partner of its opening night celebration.

Screen NSW executive director Kylie Munnich said the event provides an opportunity for practitioners from across the state to connect directly with industry decision-makers while helping create a more inclusive screen sector.

Screen Australia head of international and industry partnerships Harry Avramidis similarly described Screenworks as an important meeting point between regional practitioners and the wider industry.

The forum arrives amid an ongoing push to make careers in Australia’s screen sector more accessible to creatives who live outside Sydney and Melbourne.

Screenworks has spent more than 25 years supporting screen professionals across regional, rural and remote Australia, providing training, professional development and industry networking opportunities.

Its 2026 initiatives include New Kids on the Block, which provides financial assistance and additional industry access to nine emerging regional screen practitioners from New South Wales, South Australia and the ACT attending Regional to Global for the first time.

For an Australian industry increasingly looking to expand where its stories and talent come from, the Lennox Head gathering provides something often harder to access from outside the major cities: direct contact with the people capable of getting projects made.
