‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Sets November Return, Unveils New Trailer at Comic-Con

Prime Video has unveiled the first teaser for the third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, confirming the fantasy epic will return on 11 November with a four-episode premiere.

The announcement came during the series’ Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, where more than 6,500 fans were treated to a panel featuring showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay alongside cast members Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman and newcomer Jamie Campbell Bower. The discussion was moderated by series star Benjamin Walker, who plays High King Gil-galad.

The newly released teaser offers the darkest glimpse yet of Season Three, as Sauron’s campaign to forge the One Ring gathers pace and the battle for Middle-earth escalates. With the Dark Lord threatening every realm, former enemies are forced into uneasy alliances in a desperate attempt to halt his advance.

Prime Video also used the panel to unveil several new characters joining the series.

Eddie Marsan (Happy-Go-Lucky) will play Thrain, the older brother of King Durin IV, while Andrew Richardson (Guys & Dolls) has been cast as Anárion, Elendil’s younger son and Isildur’s brother. Adam Young (Don’t Breathe 2) joins the ensemble as Marnûkh, a mysterious Orc whose true nature remains unclear.

The streamer also confirmed details previously announced ahead of Comic-Con, including Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things) as Galadriel’s long-lost husband Celeborn and Zubin Varla (Andor) as Khamûl the Easterling.

One of the panel’s biggest surprises came during an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette showcasing the creatures of Season Three, including Fell Beasts, Mûmakil and the returning Balrog. For the first time, the iconic creature will speak — voiced by actor Simon Pegg.

Fans inside Hall H were also treated to a theatrical surprise when four imposing Nazgnagôl — Second Age predecessors to the Nazgûl — interrupted the panel in full armour as they awaited Sauron’s command.

Season Three picks up five years after the fall of Eregion, with Sauron’s armies sweeping across Middle-earth. As Khazad-dûm, Lindon and Rivendell become the final strongholds resisting the Dark Lord, Sauron works within Barad-dûr to complete the One Ring and secure his domination of the realm.

The first four episodes of Season Three will premiere on 11 November, followed by episodes five and six on 18 November, with the two-part season finale arriving on 25 November.
