Cody Simpson Launches Baileys Book Club, Names Jack Kerouac Classic as First Pick

The Australian singer and actor is turning his love of literature into a monthly reading series and will return to Sydney for the midnight launch of Sarah J. Maas’s latest novel.
Australian singer, actor and author Cody Simpson is joining the celebrity book club movement, launching the Baileys Book Club in partnership with the Irish cream brand.
Following in the footsteps of stars including Dua Lipa and Emma Roberts, Simpson will share a personal book recommendation each month, accompanied by a suggested Baileys cocktail.
The 29-year-old, who published his collection of poetry and prose Prince Neptune in 2020, has chosen Jack Kerouac’s Beat Generation classic On the Road as his inaugural selection.
“Books have always been a big part of my life and On the Road is one I keep coming back to,” Simpson said. “It’s all about chasing freedom and the people you meet along the way, and it’s shaped what I read and how I write.”
Simpson will also return to Australia for a sold-out literary event at Dymocks on George Street in Sydney on Monday, October 26, celebrating the release of Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Splintered Harmony, the sixth instalment in her bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses fantasy-romance series.
The singer will join fans from 10pm ahead of the book’s midnight release on October 27, when Australian readers will be among the first in the world to get their hands on the highly anticipated novel.
The event will also feature a selection of Baileys cocktails, including the brand’s limited-edition White Chocolate Flavour with Raspberry, Espresso Martinis and Chocolate Slushies.
The partnership reflects the growing intersection of celebrity culture, publishing and social media, with platforms such as BookTok helping introduce new audiences to contemporary fiction and literary classics.
Sarah Shimmons, Brand and Category Director at Diageo Australia, said the initiative was designed to bring readers together through shared literary experiences.
“With Cody sharing his personal favourites, we’re giving book lovers inspiration for their next read and a delicious way to make their reading rituals even more special,” Shimmons said.
Dymocks Head of Marketing Catherine Rose said the collaboration reflected the enthusiasm surrounding major literary releases.
“At Dymocks, we believe in the power of books to create community connection and bring readers together,” Rose said. “The passion surrounding ACOTAR is a wonderful example of that, and we’re thrilled to team up with Baileys and Cody Simpson to create a memorable midnight release experience.”
Simpson’s monthly book selections will be shared through his social media channels, with accompanying cocktail suggestions published by Baileys.
