Kitty Flanagan on what to expect from Fisk Season 4 as ABC renews the series
The ABC has renewed Fisk for a fourth season as part of its 2027 slate, announced at the broadcaster’s upfronts this week. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter Australia, Kitty Flanagan said the principal cast will return with her while reflecting on the success of the show locally and overseas.
Flanagan, who co-created the series with Vincent Sheehan and co-writes it with her sister Penny Flanagan, shared her excitement for Season 4 and told THR that “at the moment, everyone will be back” from the cast.
Fisk first aired on the ABC in 2021. It follows former corporate lawyer Helen Tudor-Fisk as she rebuilds her life at a small Melbourne wills and probate firm after her marriage and career collapse. Flanagan stars opposite Julia Zemiro, Marty Sheargold and Aaron Chen; the ensemble has remained central across the first three seasons. The series has collected multiple AACTA Awards and, at the 2025 Logies, took Best Scripted Comedy Program along with the four major comedy acting awards for Flanagan, Chen, Zemiro and Glenn Butcher. All three seasons stream on Netflix outside Australia.

Flanagan said the scale of the response had not been the plan. “We did not expect that, but we could not be more delighted,” she said. “We just wanted to make a show the way we wanted to make it with the people that we really enjoyed working with. The fact that people in Australia liked it was already cherry on the cake. And then when people in other countries started to like it, we still actually can’t believe that was happening.”
She has not travelled overseas since the series began. “I’d love to be overseas and someone say, ‘Oh, it’s the lady from Fisk!’” she said. “Maybe I’ll start wearing my brown suit.”
Asked whether Fisk could match the longevity of Home and Away, now deep into its late thirties of seasons, Flanagan employed her signature dry humour, joking that “I don’t think we’ll even get to season five,” she said. “So, absolutely not. We’ll be lucky to finish four.”
The renewal keeps one of the ABC’s strongest recent scripted comedies on the slate, with the same writing partnership and core cast that shaped its particular tone. Production details have yet to be confirmed by the broadcaster.
